Hey guys,
I have an issue with quality. Just to provide some background knowledge on the project, I recently shot/edited my music video with the dvx100A in advanced mode. Everything captured fine and I was able to edit with no problems in my 23.98 timeline in final cut HD 4.5.
I had my color correcting session yesterday. I brought in the project on my Lacie drive, which was imported into final touch at 23.98. Everything went fine and we color corrected at SDI.
The guys told me when I load the proect back onto my computer at home (dual 1.8 G5) to change the timeline settings to 10 bit uncompressed 4:2:2. I did that, and the video played just fine and the color looked great.
The issue I'm having is with the DVD. I exported an MPEG2 (through quicktime conversion) and burned it in DVD studio pro. I know that DVDs do not look as clean as the playback on Beata, mini dv, or quicktime, but the quality looks
REALLY bad (lots of pixelation and highly saturated colors). Theun-color corrected version looks better when I play it on the tv.
So, I'm wondering if there are any compression settings in Final CutPro or DVD Studio Pro that I need to set (such as one or two pass VBR?). I'm also wondering if there are any other settings I need to change since I'm working in uncompressed 10 bit 4:2:2.
I've never used compressor before either. Maybe that's the issue? I am not too familiar with compression settings or DVD burning, so if there is anyone who might know what the issue could be, I would really appreciate your expertise. I'll be working at this today/tonight to try and figure something out.
Our screening is tomorrow, so I'm a little on edge. Thank you!
