I just built a ringlite.
You need:
( rails.... i luckily have an extra pair from my SGPRO, but you guys are smart and can think of something.)
1 piece of masonite. about 12" X12", $1.99
1 premade incadescant light screw in "warm white" flourescant bulb kits. home depot $12.99. its by a company named Commercial Electric. its a Circuline type bulb. Make sure its the single bulb model not the dual.
Zipties .89$
Electric socket to bulb socket adapter. .99$ you know thoe things that let you screw in a bulb then plug it into the wall socket.
( if youre fancy then get a socket on off switch too.)
2 bolts .29$
Scrap wood
Assemble. like so.
Measure the place where youre gonna drill out the holes for the rails to pass thourgh the masonite. then using the scrap wood, make holes in it as well so there is structure o support the weight and hold it up. the masonite is too thin to stand on its own. After measuring, cut a hole inthe masonite big enough for the lens shade to fit through. ( youre gonna wana keep the "mattebox" on, to keep flare off the picture.) then mark and drill holes for the zip ties to hold the bulb in place. on the reverse side, mount the starter and power supply. luckily it comes with this bulb bracket that you can trim and use to bolt to the masonite.
Attach all parts, and enjoy.
