 Working on a tv show being produced by an microcinema/indie film company. We're looking to get more opinions on something.
In Episode 4 of the series, our main character gets hit in the face with a door, and proceeds to bleed all over the place. We're trying to decide if it would work best if he's relatively unscathed (just freaking out over nothing) bruised up, or wearing a splint/bandage on his nose. And if we go with a splint/bandage, how many episodes should he wear it for? The series takes place in 8 episodes in the course of about a week/week and a half, for reference.
My opinion is, the character is kind of a pretend tough guy-he would probably whine about it being broken/crooked etc, and in the end, would be pretty much fine. He does get hit hard though, and part of the gag is him bleeding all over the place. We also think that having a bandage on his face would be distracting. So, opinions?

Well a broken nose results in a couple of things, namely two black eyes. Number two is this, if you say it is broken, unless the guy has plastic surgery, you would probably know it wasn't broken. I would go with bruised and lots of blood and no break, but would put a bandage on for at least one episode. Maybe make it a point between characters, you know, I thought you were a tough guy?

Tissues/cotton in the nose work great for the swelling....Just don't push it up there too far, lol!

I have to say I love character flaws and from the sound of it, this split would be a big one for this guy. I'd use it to max. JMHO though.

just like LAKE says cotton up the nose and then less cotton as the show goes
