Was surfing for new hard drive for my laptop 'cause when I try to boot, a great deal of the time my DVD drive light comes on and it will open, but the computer won't boot. If I force it off after enough times it will finally boot. Hope its just the hard drive getting tired after 3 or 4 years. (Any one had this problem?) Anyway, I came across this little dude and wondered if it could be used alone (No computer) in any capacity as storage in the field with the HVX? UPS Tracking says my HVX should be here monday and I'm obviously excited and am looking for a storage solution that doesn't require a computer in the field.

Any one know whether this will work or not, and could it be battery powered?

From the specs of it, it should work. They also have a 100GB model, which would be a better choice:
