I just bought a HVX 200 and it will arrive on Monday. When I shoot at a high frame rate like 60P can I then watch the footage on the camera and view the slow motion effect? Does the camera play on a 24P rate or do you have to change it etc?

Sorry, I posted it to the DVX forum instead of HVX. How do I move my post? New here and lost but I still have a brand new DVX 100B and a new HVX 200!
If I could only learn to use them...
Yes you can. Just select in the scene file menu frame rate 60, and on the Recording setup 720 24pn. After recording the shot, go to VTR mode and select the clip you just recorded. You'll see your slow motion in all its glory. If you want fast motion, jsut repeat the process, but instead of selecting a frame rate above 24, select one that's below- from 22 to 12 (or 2, if you use the frame rate crack :) )

Thanks for the response. Why pick scene file menu frame rate 60?
I thought for slow mo I would need to shoot at a higher frame rate like 720 60P and then select 24p in VTR mode to view the slow mo effect. Sorry, I'm the least experienced cameraman to ever purchase a HVX 200, DVX 100B and Quad G5 all in the same week...

You'll want to choose 60P over 24pN, this will record those 60 frames divided into 24 frames a second. So you'll come out with 2.5 seconds for every real life second, when you record 60p over 24pN you can watch the footage on the camera at the slowed rate. Shooting pN means you won't have to pull out any frames in post to watch it as slow motion, without shooting pN you can't watch it in camera as slow motion.
I believe when you choose the format to record in you can choose 720/24pN and then there should be a sub-menu (Not positive, never touched a HVX before) that has various frame rates.

Just go for what I told you. Make sure you record at 24pn, and select frame rate at the scene file menu to 60 (or anything above 24). Don't ask, just try. :)
