Well, not really...I'm helping another photographer shoot one of his. I am wondering if any wedding photographers have any tips/tricks for me. I am 15 years old and am going to be shooting with:
#1 D50
#1 75-300mm tamron lense
#1 18-55mm nikkor lense
#2 Vivitar flashes

Anything would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Age shouldn't matter first of all, and judging by the fact that you know of those lenses (and hopefully how to use them) then you seem to be relatively set on the technical side.

Artistically, I have no clue and am actually going digital camera shopping in about half an hour.

Be prepared for annoying aunts and uncles who think they can take better pictures than you or just are really eager to capture those precious moments.

People tend to want to capture everything they paid for or they get disapointed. Make sure to get shots of food display, band etc. Also set people up infront of itresting areas such as the things people paid for :) Since your shooting digital dont worry about snapping off plenty and be agressive for the good moments. Make sure you know who is who and make sure you get pictures of anyone who is anyone.

Don't be discouraged at all, I'm 16 and I've done countless weddings. Main thing is to don't be afraid to move around and capture everything that goes on. If something happens and you miss it, just get them to do it again.

Once a couple was cutting the cake in a Carribean theme so I got them to do it again with these big related hats on. No biggy, the photo was much better and more memorable. They were also half-cut by then so it didn't really matter. ;-)

just show up and eat the food. and pretend to take pictures and tell them you lost your footage in a freak car accident.

Cover everything. If you think you need to retake a shot, make people redo whatever it is they are doing.

Weddings IMO tend to be very flash intensive, so know your flash systems in and out. Get a flash bracket.

Good luck!
