Hi,

I'm prepping a music video. I'm shooting with the HVX. I can get a P + S Technik 35mm adapter for free, but right now only have access to a Zeiss 10-100mm zoom for 16mm. The mount is the same, PL, but I'm wondering if it's possible to use this 16mm lens with the p s technik? What issues would I have?

I do have a little money, $100, to rent some 35mm primes if someone in L.A. has access to them. Email me if you're interested and let me know what you have.

Thanks,

No that wouldn't work.
Although the PL mount is physically the same, the flange focus distance is not, so the focus range of the lens will be way off, especially with a zoom as the focus would shift when you zoom. Really not usable at all.
Also the image circle in 16mm is much smaller than 35 mm you would have to zoom way in on the HVX, so much that it may be impossible to focus on the mattescreen.

Go with 35mm lenses with the PL mount, or see if they have a Canon or Nikon lensport for the adaptor, or rent an M2.

The PL mount has a flange distance of 52mm.
This is the same for ALL PL camera and lens mounts.
Yes it will work - but, since 16mm lenses can stick further into the camera body, take care and make sure that the rear element (and mount) won't hit anything inside the P+S adapter when it's mounted.
HOWEVER, since the image size of the 10-100 (reg 16) is much smaller than a 35mm frame- you will have to zoom in on the image in the P+S adapter.
This may make the grain of the groundglass too noticeable.
