Is it me or is this section now becomming a place for people to sell their hardware. The spirit of this forum is fantastic people sharing cominig up with ideas spreading the power of indie filmaking.

But there seems alot of posts about this is my whatever it costs whatever.

Maybe there should be more moderating in this forum and these posts go in the hardware section. That's why there's so many sections on this board.

There's my rant, well more of a suggestion.

I don't... a lot of times people come to the realization that they cannot build something themesleves becasue of lack of resources or lack of ability. Either way they can then buy a DIY version of that item for less than a truly commercial made product

I have to disagree with that... I would have never bought my adapter if had not been for THIS DIY forum.

I agree to an extent,
there have been blantant attempts at sales to begin with.
While other times some members have howled demanding and encouraging the production and commercial sale of some of the devices.

Perhaps a healthy medium, links for commercial websites, auctions, or other advertising should be moderated.. But by the same token when a person does produce something that are highly sought after by the community such as Matt's cables, or are able to procure limited items such as the Nikon screens and wish to inform us and are not done for the sake of money, then that should be taken into account.

Sometimes some of the Follow Focus diy projects seem to be hit by a link for one of the commercial products. Knowning the alternatives isn't bad but undisguised solicitation should be a little more monitored. As it may tarnish the spirit of DIY, or at least let others do it and reverse engineer it ...

Not entirely. I usually look at the DIY things I see, and then get an idea based off it.
