on a couple of shots i did in a forest looking towards the sky the light flickers rapidly through the leaves and the leaves turn more blue/purple around the light every other frame of the flicker. the footage was 720pn 24p at 180 degree shutter. one shot is a fig rig shot and the other is a totally stationairy tripod shot where it only happens for half of the shot, with seemly no instigation. in the tripod shot the image vibrates rapidly when the light flicker starts. is this an ois issue like the image shifting with panning? i have stopped using the ois completely since these shots, even on the fig rig because i experienced an image shift on a fig rig shot as well. thanks for any info.

Sounds like you have the knee set in auto. Look in the scene file menu and see if the knee is set to AUTO, if it is, take it out.

In fact, I'd pretty much recommend that every HVXer go through every scene file they have and remove the auto setting, set it on high or low but don't leave it on auto. Anytime you have flickering highlights, suspect that darned auto knee of being the culprit.

thanks barry. it looks like that the knee is set to auto, but that menu item is in blue. so how do i change it? i'm using filmcam mode, 24pn, cine V, and cine gamma.

Thanks Barry I had the same issue in when i was out in the wood and tried panning in different recording formats. I definitely going to turn of auto.

i still haven't figured out how to change the knee. i was reading an article this morning that said the knee could not be set in cine like d. i was shooting in cine like v. can i edit the text file with a card reader to get the knee off of auto? i would like to be able to figure this out before thursday because i have another shoot in the woods and i don't want to drive out of town just to get flickering shots. thanks.
