In coming from more....what I would call old-school or traditional cameras, I was surprised when I read somewhere that there was no Automatic setting, just Manual for Audio. In the past I have always set aside one of my channels to camera mike, and just put it on Auto. Works well for run and gun. You really can't do this in the HVX? Or did I somehow read this wrong? Thanks.
Auto what? "Auto" is usually not a professional feature.

Auto..as in setting one channel of your camera mike to "auto", and then setting another channel of your camera mike (CH2 for example) to manual, so that in any case you get some form of good audio....that is the norm in most professional cameras, whether that be HD, Beta SP, or DVCAM. I never use auto for recording interviews, always manual....but in run and gun, I like to be able to set my camera mike to both auto and manual. In the HVX I've only seen manual.
