Hey all,
I was looking at the Verizoom web site and i seen that they had the 1shooter for $129. not bad, but i don't really have alot of money to spend on accessories. so i said to my self "i can make that" what i didn't know was i can make that for less then 35 bucks. i got all the parts from Wal-Mart, Home Depot, and OSH. ( the most expensive parts came from Wal-Mart.) You might be able to save some money if you have the parts lying around the house. check this out, if you want to make your own. PM, E-mail me or post here and i'll GIVE you the parts list and instructions on how to put it all together.
here are some pics of it.

Looks good, but whats the purpose of adding a weight on your back? It seems unnecessary. Is this to counter the frontal weight? If you take a look at the shoulder mounts that already exist, none have weights in the back - why make the rig heavier for no reason?

Yes it is to counter the front weight, and actually, the DVRig Pro rigs DO have a counter weight in the back. It helps.

thanks Mcgee,
you beat me to it...
to answer your question in depth... i tried the mount without weights. i walked around for about ten minutes and my arms were killing me. the weight makes it so you can balance the camera without hands. trust me, you need the weight.

Looks good. Now on the question of shoulder rigs, what is the concensus of handles? Do most people prefer one or two handles?

Nice job! Should put this in the DIY forum....

I put two on it because if you only put one then it really starts to sway left and right. no rig will ever sit even on your shoulder. no matter how custom you make it. besides, two handles looks a little bit more professional.

Interesting how low it sits. Probably a really nice angle on shooting people. Looks like just 1/8" steel strap and overlapped at the handle area to form a T shape?

biligami,
oh i thought about it. they way i figure it is. i've gotten so much knowledge from this forum. i'm just honored to give something back. now i'm not saying i'm handing out the plans for a $100 jet fighter plane. lol.... right now the only thing i'm asking is that people send me a pic of the finished product. who knows maybe i'll start charging for pre-made kits or something. i'm not really in it for the cash, although it would be nice to make a buck or two :-)

What is OSH? Would you be able to buy the parts you got there at another store like home depot or lowes?
VMajor films

OSH is also known as "Orchard Supply Hardware". i had to go to OSH because Home-depot doesn't have a lot of bolts that are threaded all the way to the head. you might be able to get away with going to Lowe's but i'm really not sure. i mean in theory you can go wherever you want as long as you find 1/2 bolts that thread all the way to the head.

I am working on mine now - I don't have an OSH either, but have been to Lowes and Home Depot to find my parts - I found that the Lowes I go to has a better selection of bolts and parts than Home Depot.

does the eyecup viewfinder stay up the whole time or can it fold all the way down it looks like it sits against the brace?

does the eyecup viewfinder stay up the whole time or can it fold all the way down it looks like it sits against the brace? if you bend the main shoulder piece right i don't see any reason why you can't make it look like it sits against the rig. remember to size it up when you bend that shoulder piece though. the good thing about this rig is that it's custom :-)

over the last two days i've sent out a bunch of plans for the rig. but it seems that people aren't getting them. your ISP might block it because i sent it as a attachment in MS WORD format. if you asked for one and didn't get it e-mail me and i'll AIM it to you or something like that. let me know....
-thanks

Hi There Major
Nice job done, very nice and slick design you are the man!;-)
Yes i'm interested in making one for my use, could u plz help me in the blue prints of its design i mean can u share with me the drawings or plans.
Just FYI, but VMajor Films hasn't logged in for almost 6 months, so you might want to look elsewhere for the plans. It seems that he gave them to several people here, and perhaps they still have them.
You might also try this thread (http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=122882), where another user has built essentially the same shoulder mount.

I have asked for the plans from members here and no one responded so I just assumed that the thread was too old. I ended up figuring out what the parts were anyway.

do you mind listing the parts and where you got it from?

Sure. When I get home I will see what the parts numbers were. They tended to be all Simpson Strong Tie products.

Well, I must say that I'm really happy that so many people have asked for my plans. I've got a lot of good feedback on them. I'm sorry that I haven't been on the threads for a while... Productions are very demanding and time consuming. :-) anyway, enough of my egotistical bragging. :-) I've sent out quite a few plans today. If anyone else needs them or you asked for them and didn't get them. please send me your email and I'll try to get them out ASAP
Thanks again,
Vince

Hey bro. Please send me the instructions how to assemble this as well as a parts list. I partnered with a friend to form our media business and he already had shoulder mount. It is very uncomfortable and at times can just be painful. It's extremely hard to focus on getting a good shot like this. We are on a limited budget and what you have there looks great. If you could show me how to make one of my own it would be GREATLY appreciated. You can email me at brokenfansales@gmail.com. Thanks!!!
