Rec lamp question

A potentially stupid question, but . . .

About the rec lamp. In the menu, you can select FRONT, REAR, or BOTH.

How come when I select FRONT (for example) the record lamp always flashes regardless of whether or not I'm actually recording? I thought the lamp was only supposed to flash when recording. Mine flashes all the time. Same with the REAR and BOTH settings. They flash all the time.

Is this normal?

Also,

The BEEP SOUND option in the menu. I have mine set to ON, but my camera never beeps. Is it supposed to beep when you start recording? Or at some other time.

This may or may not help.
But have you charged the internal camera battery by pluging in the AC/ and turning of the camera for 4hours.
Try that, it may or may not help.

I have noticed the same with mine in relation to the beeping sound.
I never hear it.

found the answer.

With regards to the rec lamp -- it's flashing because the p2 card is almost full.

in regards to the beep, i have heard from several others that theirs doesn't beep when recording either. hmm.

That makes sense l noticed that it blinks if you put a DV tape in which is full.
I find it a bit strange that it doesn't beep when the manual says it should.

I've always turned off the beeps of everything I run off batteries.
