Hello
We are starting to shoot an action movie in Poland soon
very ambitious project so please wish us luck
I have a question
We would like to get some nice slo mo so with hvx it's gotta be 720 p
but I would like to shoot in 1080 off course because we hope some day for a film transfer....
SO my question to you ( some really good brains I have seen on that forum):
Is it going to be ok to mix both of them and resize afterwards or can I get nice slo mo from some magic software?
And yes , the time laps is also only available in 720 ,correct me if I m wrong.
An I do have an idea for one scene using that technique.
Please answer

I posted something similar a while before and Barry (I think) said that he was going to be seeing a film out of both 720 and 1080 material to get an idea on how big a difference you get in both modes in regards to a film out. Was that ever done? Did I miss the post that talked about that?

I'd be real interested in what he finds out about that.

dervish- If your project is good enough to justify filmout in 1080, it'll be good enough in 720 too.
Shoot the whole thing in 720. Wishing you luck!

thanks brian and dregental
happy to get an answer
I hope Barry will get to see that material and will make a post out of it

So 720 is enough to make a filmout
ok .
Do you know guys of a good software for slomotion
because inb 60 f/s we get only 50% slow
maybe something nice out there
have heard about twixtor pro but thats for adobe and we will work on fcp

Isn't funtastic that forum
one can learn every day something interesting
thanks for the wishes

Also, 720P will be good enough. There is a After Effects Plugin called Twixtor http://www.revisionfx.com/rstwixtorgal.htm that is supposed to help with slow motion. I have not tested this but wanted to let you know about it.

I have the EXACT question. I am shooting a short in 1080 and I was going to shoot a slo mo scene in 720p (the only way). My only issue is how FCP 5.1 will handle it. I assume no big deal, just will require a render... I have no idealized notions about converting my project to film, so I would have no clue about that issue, however. Alas, I have aided nothing in the way of an answer -- just a shared query...

Justin.

great thread. been wondering the same. i think, just due to storage issues alone, 720pn is the only way I can shoot my feature on two 8GB cards. Trying to shoot 1080/p might be nice, but the cards would fill up too quickly. Plus the over and undercranked shots would not match in terms of resolution.
