I made a DIY circle dolly after months of wanting one and many aborted attempts at using tubes. I finally just said enough is enough, I'm building this ridiculous curved table with a plywood skater that sits on top.
Here it is:

Here's the footage:

just a test, more to come.

Hi Matthew,
Wow the footage looks really good, I had an idea once for a circle track. I just might have to make it, very nice job!
Wow, thats a huge frigin rig. I guess if it works for you thats all that really matters. Too cumbersome for me.

Yeah, you're right. This beast is stuck in my apartment now. It would take a few guys and a delivery van to get around properly.
But, yes, it works!
im thinking you could easily divide the board into a few pieces to make it useable for transportational purposes.

looks like a great idea, but what I want to know is where the hell you found a piece of MDF that big?

Really cool Matthew... I'm diggin' it big time. That will be a nice shot to have in the bag... I'd have been tempted to keep this to myself until one of the fests... like say for the horror fest you have the unsuspecting girl calling for her friends and then you have the reveal of the murderer standing a few feet away... whew, gives me chills... this thing is gonna' come in handy and it will really blow people away when you put it to good use in the story! Nice job!
Insanity... don't go to Home Depot or Lowe's for wood like that... check with a wood store... I have a place right down the street called Saint Charles Hardwoods and they have EVERYTHING there... they have 20X the wood of Home Depot and Lowe's.
