I've got a mac and i was wondering if anyone has a tutorial for making an avatar. Thanks in advance:undecided

Well I guess, any paint package will suffice, it depends on your needs.

Types of Avatar:

(1) Static

(2) Dynamic

Static

These are just plain picture files, depending on the forums requirements usually JPEG format is accepted (with certain pixel dimensions or to be under a certain amount of file size, Example: Under 30KB and 32 X 32 Pixels)

Also again depending on which forum other formats may be accepted.

Dynamic

These are avatars that move or are animated, because they contain a series of still images. Usually they are in GIF format, again depending on forums.

As for tutorials, its quite staright forward, for (1) any picture file will do, you just need to make sure you meet the requirements of the forum in question. That may mean you need to downsize or compress your original picture.

As for making GIFS, you can do a quick google and you should be able to find some tutorials on making them:
