View Full Version : Dark video problems.
Hey guys,
I need some tips on bringing up the brightness in my video.
I CC for TV first but that usually leaves me with a video that is very dark on a computer monitor.
Is there any way I can preserve the look and just brighten the video? I've tried messing with the brightness and contrast but they are not very good tools.
help?

Yeah, I usually make two versions. But most of the time my MPEG2 DVD file looks very similar on my PC and TV. Maybe its the compression, I don't know.

hey rook
is your TV set properly?
for me, the image is relatively the same in term of brightness... although the contrast is a little softer on the TV

Try the equalizing tool. It's from Premiere Pro, but I'm sure there's one similiar in FCP or Vegas. It's working wonders and doesn't really add any grain.

Changing the brightness without changing the color is only possible in a different Color Space. You need YCbCr. You really need After Effects to do this. (Or Shake, etc.)
The tools in FCP for CC are just for a rough draft. AE has Color Finesse, which supports different Color Spaces.

Awesome tips guys.
Yeah, my TV is set up properly. I'll look into AE and Shake solutions I have access to both. (Hate them both-too).
Anyone have similar luck with combustion?
FCP is great but the color woork there is awful.
Thanks guys.
