Hey guys, I have an HVX....does that allow me to post CGI work?? LOL
anyway, any thoughts on this short?

It's pretty much your usual sick and twisted fodder. I.e; films about farting. I did find the execution pretty good. The animation is pro. The main flaw in your production would be the sound. It sounds like the character is in a room, when actually he is outside, next to a cliff or something, and I can see plants moving in the wind. So you need to add atmospheric sounds to that to make the image sit well with the sound. Like wind, and rustling branches, and what ever to make it work. Look at other films with similar locations and think about the sound. Also the lighting is off. It should feel hotter and there should be more cast shadows

I've never seen any fart posters (will keep an eye out!). I don't hate fart jokes, I studied animation production years ago, so I've seen the whole farting thing come and go. It's an easy way to be instantly rude. I suggest you exagerate the gonads more , to make the character even more obscene

One thing is if you turn arund and look at the sun in this shot, you will notice a large cloud covering the sun, creating a soft light.....um, that is if you can turn around in this CGI scene ....;)

I should have said so, the animation rocks. Very good skills there, and the backround too. And Sproketz, it's good to be a critic. If you only want to hear the good stuff then you are probably not an artist. When you are serious about your' work, you generally want to hear what's bad about it, cause you allready know what's good about it. Obin, what software are you working with, and what renderer, if you please?

Ok, so that was my brothers work FTR, and he uses LightWave 8.5 and beta 9 we have a render farm, and rendered in 1280x720p HD we have about 30Ghz of render power, just enough to make jobs not so painfull!

I also don't like fart and similar jokes, but the animation impressed me. And the guy looks like the "Crazy Frog", if you know him.

Nice job. I have no idea the work required to put something like that together, but it loks daunting. I think that dogcat's advice was spot on. I would love to see this if and when those suggestions were apllied.

As much as I hate toilet humor cause it turns my stomach, I do recognize some first rate work. That was a great character, minus the penis. The eye movements were superb. I do agree with the sound comments. A lot of people like fart humor but they're probably a bit younger than the average age in this forum. (just a guess) Nice going

They looked like balls to me, that's what I liked about him. There's something vulnerable about a loose pair. I would ad a crooked member, and seal the deal.

Now that's funny.... And the annimation was funny. Really looked so clean.. and swinging balls is always a crowd pleaser...
The only thing I would add and thought it would end on.. was the thing squishing his puny balls against the ground and a couple of painful sighs..
I do thing a bit of sound design would be nice too..
want to see more!

I think it's great! If you don't like fart jokes then don't watch it. Requiem For a Dream is an insane movie that some people don't like because of the content, but it is very well done. This animation is the same and I think it is a job well done! Farting is funny no matter hwo you are and if it's not then loosen up! Get your camera out of your...and enjoy life.

Crits about sound are right on, this sound bed is a temp track, for animation purposes only. Not complete at all. High quality sounds are on the way as soon as I get free time. Real fart sounds, nice environment sounds, voice sweetening etc. Also the particleFX/farts are throw-away, they are going to be completely re-done.
The environment and the animation are pretty much done, just a couple of micro tweeks.

I loved it, especially the fart attack (pun intended) at the end. I see nobody got my Got nads? (Got Milk) joke. Low brow humor is great, but you have to be able to appreciate it for what it is.

How long does one frame take? (I know there are many variables), I use Max 7 and I always wanted to make a "mini" render farm. More details please :)

Why do you have a rock in the shape of a ramp in the background then he farts and moves towards it and I was expecting for him to do "a big one" and shoot of it but it never hapened :-(

Well if I understood the joke correctly:

Since the popular phrase “How long” is not specific grammatically speaking thus any individual taking that term in the strictest sense would imply to use a scalar measuring method to determine its length.
However this would be to miss the point since only a very “dim” individual would make such an assumption in the first instance because normally one would perceive to understand the context of the situation and therefore correctly determine the phrase to mean, “passage of time”.

Nice modeling and rendering. But what's up with the super jagged text credits at the end? That one credit screen puts a unprofessional feel on the whole thing.
that, my friend, is ADOBE PREMIERE and it's TITLE BUG, I just found out WHY MY TITLES LOOK LIKE HELL on some things, it's a bug you have to have a BLACK video track UNDER any title you use...arrgg

congrats for getting nominated. Although your 3d animation, rendering, and modelling is far supperior to this other animated short from that same contest, get a gander at something that pokes fun at the US, and how consumed we are with mindless things.
