I'm not even sure I'm going to continue on this project. I still want to submit a horror film for the fest, but I don't know about this particular story. It may be a bit "big" for me at this point. I think that was a major weakness in my hero entry and I don't want to do that again. I might archive it for a day when my resources are a tad bit better. Do you ever feel like you needed to have had certain other films accomplished before you take a particular one on? That's how I feel.

This new script I'm doing is much more simple.

Do you mean technically?
Cuz I think your Hero Fest entry was superb in that area. Can't imagine what you wouldn't be able to accomplish?

If not what area are you concerned about? I'm sure there are people on the boards here who can help you figure it out. PM me if you want to talk about it there.

soooo.. Are you debating not to do one this round? If anything, do a last minute piece like you do best. :) gather your dog, the camera, and just hit the street. I bet your crazy mind will come up with something!

I'd feel really bad if I didn't enter at least something into the horrorfest. That's even if I place last.

Last minute? My hero entry was probably the first production started and then all the way until about a few days before the due date. I agree, it still appeared to be a last minute slap together. That's an entirely different matter.

I have this idea I really want to shoot. I have to leave in very late August for the Oceania where I'll actually be getting paid to shoot a documentary. I'll be getting some major time in with the HVX200. :)

I'll have to shoot this idea very quickly and just go with it.

I started shooting a film tonight. Previously, I had been shooting a part commercial part entertainment documentary all day long from about 10am-6pm. Don't expect anything oscar worthy .

Oh, back to the horror film. It starts off in Nashville, TN. You see the skyline in the background, the batmanesque Bellsouth tower looms beneath a dying evening sun. A young woman is driving. She gets a cell call chit chatting with what seems to be a person who has given her a house sitting job while they're out of town.

I'll try to get some grabs soon. Everything is hand held. Hopefully it might give it some grit, or scenario #2 it'll look dumb. I'm Jack Daniel Stanley'n it by doing everything on my trusty laptop.

to be continued...

Oh wow, that is awesome about winning first place in the score category! I voted for "Nine to Five Ninja". I can't believe that didn't get more votes. The introduction just blew my socks off.

EDIT:

Ok, here are some stills.

They're grainy, but the vibe I want is there. I'm kinda going for a 70's grainy, Texas Chainsaw Massacre type look, but in my own way (even if "my own way" = ignorant). The point of these fests are to get out and do it. Eh? BTW, neither image was messed with in post, or photoshop. That's straight off the DVX. Well, they were cropped in PS, but you get what I mean. No color or crushing blacks alterations.

I won't be able to do make it into HorrorFest. I wish I could. I look forward to seeing everyone's work in October. I'll definitely watch, review films, & cast my ballot.

Mods, If you want to declutterize, please delete this thread.

Sorry to hear that Aaron! I've been checking in on this thread for updates...Best of luck with your other projects.

Will you be scoring any shorts this time around or are your efforts going to invested elsewhere?

Thanks guys. I wish I could enter. I guess I should still shoot a quickie for fun. I have a little bit of time before I leave. It would probably only be a 2-3 minute jobby and abstract. I'm not saying whether or not I will, but I am itching to.

I won't be scoring any films this time around. That sucks too. I love this genre.

So you're headed this way, yeah?
