I just want to thank everyone who has supported me on this project thus far. Still I have one month to go and I feel like I need to thank these people.

Matt - For being there, like a brother. Even when things started to get to each of our boiling points. Support is the one thing I need. I wonuldn't be able to do what I do with out you.

Cory - For being there and have a skewwed perception in films such as I do. And for being there, hard to be a dolly grip and not much dollying, but when we did it was sweeeeeeeet.

Sophia - With out you this movie wouldn't have got air in it, you helped me out more than anyone, with everything pretty much. Even though you couldn't be there, I thank you for all the hard work you did.

Ben - For you being you're self, Loyal, optimistic, and helpful. Thanks bro.

Lauren - for being there! you did a lot more than nesscessary but I'm glad you were there to keep things managed well. Also you kept me drinking water, thank you.

Susan - For coming out and acting, Yes blood is gross but you got used to it quickly :).

Nick - For being the man.... you drove so far and you gave me what you had and I love it, you're gonna go places man.

Blake - best acting ever, thanks man.

Jan - Professional always, you kept everyone cool when things got hot. You are amazing at what you do and you should have more scary roles. I hope to work with you again.

Mangler - for get us sound and taking blows with wasps, for cory at least.

Tony- For lighting, looking tight T.

Mom - For everything.... Plus food.

Joe lisi - for make that stuff look so good and gory.

A nonthanks go out too...

The Sun - you suck.
Temperature (in General) - Really, 115 degrees? Really?

nice, i look forward to seeing it after what you put together for the sci-fest! I guess it's nice our title is generic ... "dead inside", shit, that could mean anything!

Matthew B. Moore
06-23-2006, 07:55 AM
We're not sure yet, but I'm trying to convince Hyler and Cory to go the whole none-violence path. Maybe something about a guy that cobbles shoes who meets a ghost. Blood scares us.

spidey
06-23-2006, 08:04 AM
icky icky blood!

Matthew B. Moore
06-23-2006, 03:03 PM
Maybe something about a sad flower who meet an evil weed. That way all of the violence will be felt in the heart of the viewer.

Cool poster, Spidey. Very unusual and I doubt we'll see too many that are hand drawn. I like it.

Your tagline really bugs me though. It doesn't make much sense, and it's pretty awkward.

spidey
07-19-2006, 05:18 AM
throwback means like going back to a previous version or an aged version of some that is out and new now and making it more refreshing.

So a "Throwback to the ultimate terror in horror" is pretty much self exclaimtory.

as for the promo tose are just stuff im waiting to shoot I havent made the poster yet thats just a promo to boost imagery and hype if you will.

you can't just select widescreen 1.2, that's just for preview so it won't output ...

... you have to select Square Pixel Aspect instead of Widescreen actually, then open image size, un check constrain proportions and then change the actual dimensions to 1280X720 ... least that's the only way I've been able to output anamorphic grabs and have em look right.

wow those are virtually identical

Funny that Scott is doing all that in camera on film through years of experimentation and you are doing it all digital in post.

... I mean you can expirement and develop something in a few hours that it took him several projects to get to -- and who could look at those and say one is digital and one is film?

I felt sure that Scott was doing digital when I saw Domino due to some of the banding, etc. but not the case as it turns out.

Nice work.

It was handled by Stefan Sonnenfeld of Company 3 . I mean on film ... in the BTS they talk extensively about getting the look by shootiing a particular stock and processing it as if it were another stock and and pushing the look in the CC that way ... no mention of CCing digitally ... where did I miss that?

not that I'm doubting you, but is there a fav article or link you like that you can refer me too so that I can learn more?

BUDGET: over 1800 so far.

Chiming in on this thread. I am trying not to litter the pages with pointless posts so I'll add a comment and then a question:

Comment-- I think that your make-up looks great, so far. The glass protruding from skin is pretty nice. I'm hoping to see some glass shards actually fall of of the actor's skin during the action; you know, those little things count.

Question-- I see that your budget is weighing in at eighten-hundred plus (1800+). If it's not to imposing I'd like to know how you've delegated those funds? How much went to the great make-up job? How much to the camera rental? Are you guys cutting an extended version or did you stick to your original plan for a six-minute-only movie?

Brandon Rice
08-15-2006, 06:12 PM
Great question Kholi.

Did a lot of your budget go toward equipment? Dollies, cranes, etc?

spidey
08-15-2006, 06:16 PM
sure I'll give you a budget break down.

make up 350
Wardrobe and props 500
Craft serivce 800 killer
Rental free (friend :) )
Transpo and petty cash 150

and thats all so far. Man stuff cost alot...

spidey
08-15-2006, 06:18 PM
Equipment wise I own my on steady cam, and I borrowed a laptop and put media on to it then to my firewire drive. We made our own dolly so we had it already so alot of the stuff is stuff we already have. since I work at a studio, we're always trying to get more goodies, even if its the cheapest way possible.

I always read about feeding your crew and all and reading here makes me realise how true that is. I wish I were able to have a proper crew or cast and all but then again I don't think I am ready for such expenses. I am still paying for my camera, had to get a loan...

spidey
08-16-2006, 08:18 AM
well the thing is I'm trying to get used to having bigger crews. As a young director I tend to want to do a lot but I know there are many skills that I didnt master as much as I did with Camera, and visual language. Matt Teaches grip and works grip jobs but also likes camera work and directing writing and editing; I tend to stay in the writing directing and edintg and camera work. I mean I know so grip work but I'm not the best skilled at it. So instead of like CPU, were I had like a handful of people this time i had like 20 or so. it can get crazy, but I think I let it get to me that is everyone comfortable, I worry that I might let people down like many younger directors do. So I want to try to keep food and other resources there as a must. Matt has directed over like 20 projects and knows the game... I'm still learning. But man I do worry alot.

I feel you man. Even though I was not at our last shoot I was so worried about our crew being happy. So far almost everyone we have worked with has been great and I want to keep the core that we have since everyone gets along and most are from these boards. The big question is how do you keep everyone happy when most are shooters. How to divie up the jobs where no one feels like they were just a go-for but go-fors are needed too. Then theres the issue of paying everyone so they are happy. I would rather pay everyone the same rate but then does that mean I would take a beating on a feature length shooting for 15 days or more? Im actually in this dilema now trying to figure out what to pay everyone on something coming up and I think the crew will get close to 20 this time. Its a little nerve racking thinking about it but Im sure it will go smooth.

I'm still waiting for a killer to go to town (I mean the whole damn movie) with one of those weedwhackers with the blade on it. It would need to be modified, but baby she could make a mess.

Hey spidey,

I'm looking forward to seeing your film. I'm almost done one called, 'Pure.' It's a 17 minute short but I reckon we'll submit a 6 minute version for HorrorFest.

The Kholi Inquirer is back with an all new set of questions for you.

Is that a goomba from SUPER MARIO BROTHERS the movie? I hate to admit it, but I actually like that movie. I dunno, call me stupid. It's one of my guilty pleasure flicks.

Is your budget escalating anymore? Along with that, have you seen a significant and obvious improvement over CPU when working with much more money?

I don't know if this was your first experience with the HVX, but how was it? Did you feel it "up'd your game" so to speak?

And as far as your other main players (This has probably been expounded upon already...)--

What's Moore and Dogett doing? Is it a true joint-effort? Did you guys split the budget?

Just wanting to find out a bit more about production, that's all.

Budget has got to 1925 hasnt changed yet since....
Hmm money wise, i had more people to take care of so it mostly all on food, the rest is just improvement in slight areas.... So no huge difference in appeal except lighting and other gear pieces.

I don't know if this was your first experience with the HVX, but how was it? Did you feel it "up'd your game" so to speak?.

HVX....Oh its perfection... it was absoulutely amazing the best part i think is the no logging and capturing..... it amazing visually and slomo come on, its awesome.

I spent most of it 1725. Cory invested 200 dollars and matt got product placement and free drinks.... and editing facilites for me and plus hes gonna be alot more post help so thats how they credited . the work they are gonna put in on it are gonna cost way more than any movie cost I'm just thankful to have them and their skills.

I just hope it looks good, and people like it.

Quick response as always. It's cool that you've got partners like that. It's hard to find people that are willing to commit to projects that you really want to make.

It's another reason I want to flee back to GA... I'd have people that believe in me and are willing to work with me on my stuff, kinda like Dogget and Moore are to you.

Thanks for the response, Hyler.

spidey - are you happy with your work on it so far? is it adding up to what you wanted to achieve? are you finding anything that you think you could have done better?
