Hey John, I drove down to Carolina Beach last night. Thought I should just stop by your place and take a photo and send it to you... you know, sort of a juvenile "I'm here and you're not, nyah nyah nyah" kind of moment! :P
You're going to LOVE IT HERE.

Nice more folks in the Carolina's then I'd expect. Rock on NC! (Raleigh/Cary Myself :))

I'm vacationing with the fam at North Myrtle Beach. Any of you Carolinians have good restaurant suggestions? Even which ones to avoid would be useful.
Thanks,

Man if you were heading to Nags Head I could fill you in on EVERYWHERE lol (100+ reviews), alas Myrtle is a whole other clam.
What I can tell you is make doubly sure you do get reviews of restaurants beforehand, beaches have a particularly large number of lousy establishments charging you hand & foot for mediocore food. That said their are just as many great places to eat out. Good luck :)

This is for one of John's stupid 'metaphor' scenes where we're looking at who the real prisoner is. Jimmerson liked the shot a lot and even though Overland and I objected Hudson threatened to beat us
http://www.stffilms.com/Pictures/Marny%20Corrected.jpg
This is another shot... it's right before the boiler room explodes and this chick is just too stupid to run away. Actually, we plan the shot very well so she just had to sit there... John doesn't like to block
http://www.stffilms.com/Pictures/Porch%20Polarizer%202.jpg
This is the drug scene... everything turns $hitty as you can see

So, what's the gay part? Having sex with corpses that are the same sex as you OR only eating people who are the same sex with you OR just gay people who like to have sex with corpses and eat other people of no sex in particular?

I really cant wait to watch the senior members movies, not the there isnt gonna be a lot of newbers, and members that wont be putting some hart and backbone and blood into these but you guys have been in film far long than I and it always great to watch stuff that better than mine. Makes me feel like Im not wasting my time with trying to go into Visual effects and compisting. Though there isnt any in my movie, school hasnt gotten me that far yet. Just classic latex and blood. But Makes me smile hard enough to put my fangs out early i cant wait.

Hey Jeremy, I know that this is a bit off-subject... okay, more than a "bit," but I just read your CC "challange" you did in the spring. Very informative. I enjoyed it.
Are you planning any other demonstrations like that? I am a FCP user so I don't know that I would be able to partake but I would like to monitor the exercise.
If you weren't planning one, I'd like to encourage you (or someone) to lead another exercise like that!
Looking forward to your film.

It is with great reservation that we must withdrawl from competition due to lost time on completing this short. Scheduling delays just did not work in our favor and we did think we could get something in the can since this weekends past shoot.
If we were doing a 48 hour film festival ,that'd be one thing. We are not. We wanted to represent and submit a quality short for everyone, but it is not going to happen. This short will be shelved for the time being.
I refuse to submit anything that is far from 100% complete for the sake of simply submitting it. I thought 7 days would be plenty of time to get it done, but there is just no way to complete it within the timetable allotted and the ambitous nature of what we went after just has created even more obstacles in post; too much, too complicated .....
I did however, get to work with Jeremy and Eric (Overland) and will do so again (an other project is already in the works) and I got to use the HVX (Which I love.)
That being said., congrats to everyone who was able to pull this off. I look very forward to this fest !

Hey John,
I admire that decision. We did the same thing and have rescheduled the shoot for mid-October.
Why don't you just push the project back a few weeks and work on making something that looks fantastic?

Sorry to here that man, really am.
If there's any clips that are in a state you feel good about we'd love to see them just linked from your server.
Even if its just somebody getting stabbed or some lighting you really like or a cool steadicam or dolly shot, I'd love to see just some snippets of what you guys have been up to.
'Course I understand if you'd rather not. But otherwise you could tied us over until the competition films are uploaded.

We were bummed when reality set in. I'd say we'd need atleast another week or so, and even that would be bum rushing this project
Shelved for now. Ill see if we cant get something up like Jack suggests.

Looks like there will be no mass understanding of a comment like "Look at it boy!"
It's a shame, but all good things in time.

Bummer, so sorry to learn that your entry won't be finished in time. Gauging the scope of a project can be a bit deceiving, and problems in post can be very daunting indeed.

oh man that sucks. yah, I had to edit for 31 hours straight with a 4 hour rest break to get mine done, and even lost my director to another project! there are 8 bottles of mt. dew, snapple kemon ice tea, black cherry vanilla coke sitting on my workstation.
when you really love film stuff and know what you can do, but don't want to put out anything less than your complete vision, yah, it can tear you up inside debating it one way or the other.

Yeah, the fact that you don't have that kid logging P2 cards this minute really shows a lack of determination on your part...

I'll let John decide if he wants to post some stills from the project. We've discussed that we definitely don't want to distract the community from the efforts of those who actually completed a film within the timeline alloted.
John and I have been talking about collaborating for a long time now and this project was conceived to serve as a gateway toward that end.
At any rate, congratulations to those who are up there on the board and good luck to everyone who made it happen!

I was looking forward to this too John, but I think it's right thing to finish it properly rather than rush out a version you're not happy with.
You gonna get a version up online in the next few months or save it for the next fest?

As you know, I was (and still am) the biggest fan of your zombiefest entry, and I was REALLY looking forward to an even more ambitious project from you this time around. Good luck, John!
