Hi, here are a few pics of my mini35. I also have a shot of the image on the rotating GG.

The above image is taken upside down but I rotated it in photoshop.

I haven;t tested with my MX500 yet. Once I have, will post the clips.

Nice job! I was actually looking for a circular enclosure lately, but could not find one that met my specs. Is it an off the shelf enclosure or one that you made?

If this is not a secret, would you mind sharing what you are using as a GG?

Its ground glass. Had a shop here prepared some cut glass for me and grounded them using grit. The image looks good. But haven't been able to test it yet as my DVCam is in the shop to replace the CCDs. Apparently its defective.

This concept is similar to the AGUS mini35 that first appeared on DVInfo.com. I just made it into something portable. The casing is made out of plumbing supply. UPVC in particular.

I am actually thinking about making it into something I can sell at this forum. But will have to test it first before I do that. I won't be doing the inverted image thingy as this normally reduces the image quality. Don't have the prism and mirror big enough to transfer a good size image from the ground glass. I am betting on the fact that DV camcorder manufacturers will one day (in teh near future) add ana dditional digital feature to invert the lcd image upside down. Like what they do with the mirror and sepia digital effect.

Whether my plan to sell this happens or not all depend on the test results. Again depend on whether there will be any taker for this.

Will definitely do a proper casing and setup if all goes well.

OK, thanks for the info. I’m familiar with the concept, having built a few spinners myself. I actually like the circular box look better than the rectangular one we are used to seeing.

FWIW, some plastics (namely optical acrylic) have better light transmissivity than glass (so I’ve been told by Bill Maxwell) for this application, so you may have better results with this material as a GG. The only problem with plastic GGs is to have a uniform finish.

I also believe the cam manufacturers will soon be adding the flip feature. Apparently, JVC has on one of their models.

i know you probably have no idea, but the question is not related to how much it will cost us, but how much did it cost you to put that thing together? and time?

Hi, not sure what you mean by what you said. Its just an idea at this stage to turn it into a biz. But will definitely look into the other profit and cost aspect of the mini35 before i even think about commercialising it. But the fact that so many people here in this forum are interested inthe same thing. Well, why not.

I am doing this as a hobby and time is not an issue at this stage.
