I'm sure this is a topic which has been visited many times, however, I'm trying to build my own track dolly and I'm looking to find the best instructions out there. I've searched around and found a few different designs but I'd like to know in your opinion what the best instructions are. I saw mentioned a dolly described on shadowgirlproject.com but when I went to look for it it seemed like the english site had closed down. Oh, I'd like the dolly to be able to use curved tracks. I have a few shots in mind for my next movie that will call for it. Thanks ya'll.
i buildt mine from skateboard wheels, angle iron, nuts, bolts and 3x4 wood. 3/4 inch ply wood. Built it on my birthday actually, felt spontaneous, and it works marvelously.
Here is something I would LOVE TO build.

Papa, do you have any kind of go kart track around where you live? If so ask to see if they have any broken carts, and if they would just sell the frame, then add a base plate, wheels and you're good to go.

Sure - it would require some welding, but aside from that it looks like a pretty easy build. None of the parts look "exotic" in any way... I like the idea of the dual purpose with both normal wheels and skateboard wheels for the tracks.

Looks like it'd be a BITCH to transport though. (what good dolly isn't though, right?)
