EDIUS v4 Release Schedule

News from Canopus (new thread in Canopus US forum):


Hopefully this will clear stuff up regarding the release timing for version 4. I should point out that some of these release times are not iron-clad, set-in-stone:

June/July 2006:

- EDIUS Pro (Software-only version)
- EDIUS Broadcast (Software-only version)

Software-only means support for Generic OHCI, DVStorm series, DVRaptor RT2 series.

EDIUS Broadcast v4 will have support for new PAL HVX formats out of the box.


August/September 2006:

- EDIUS Pro (for DVX, NX, NX w/ HD Exp)
- EDIUS Broadcast (for SP, SD, HD)

This includes upgrades (free or otherwise).


September/October

- EDIUS Broadcast module update for XDCAM HD/JPEG2000

As I understand it, this update will be provided free of charge to all customers who own v4 of EDIUS Broadcast.

I also heard the good news about pal settings, i am still thinking about if i will buy an nx card as well.
Right now, i am thinking to get a storm and stick with sd (for monitoring on control monitor) and if the time is coming i will change to nx...hope this will be the right decission..!?

EDIUS V4 now shipping in the US (includes Broadcast).

Hey jjb,

i spoke to a official canopus dealer in germany, he told me that hes got edius 4 allready, but the english version.

If you need it, i think you can order it there on monday, its great support and the guy has great knowledge: inside-multimedia, ask for mr. Dogan.

But he told me that the german version is going to come, and that hed maybe also suggest to wait till something like version 4.1 comes out, maybe in autumn(ill have to wait till autumn anyway, cause i need it with the drivers for nx card..!)

Thanks hvx_germanboy. My Canopus dealer told me pretty much the same - English version is available, German version should become available within the next few weeks.

Hi folks,

Sorry - been busy so I haven't had much time to pop in...

EDIUS Pro version 4 and EDIUS Broadcast version 4 are shipping, at least for English.
The versions that support the EDIUS hardware, however, will not ship until August.
Localized versions are forthcoming.
