Since Hero-Fest was soo friggin' cool, i'm up for the horror fest if anyone is looking for a composer. Most of my music is dark and moody anyway, so I think it would work well with a lot of these films.
So, Just let me know if anyone needs some music. I was rushed as shi* for the last one, so hopefully I'll have a little more time to work on these entries for the custom sound tracks.
here's a list to my other hero-fest entry thread:

edgen, myself and another user might be going the envision herofest route (aka making a 25 min movie, but a 6 min cut for the fest) do you do anything that has some metal guitar/orchestra? Cause i love your other stuff.

I'm sure I could give it a stab. Just about to get me the Hans Zimmer guitar collection library, so I guess you never know. Plus, it'll be a long time before the next entry so lets definitely talk. Otherwise, I know a lot of other composers that you could talk to that would definitely have what you are looking for.
I'm all for collaborations too, so keep that in mind as well.
cheers!

Ey Justin,
Very cool stuff! Looking forward to the horror score you're gonna squeeze out. Are you just gonna score a movie or are you gonna do a whole movie by yourself again? ;)
Cheers,

hey edgen,
what's your normal process for scoring a film/collaborating with a short film director? what sort of direction do you desire when receiving a picture lock from a director? Just wondering what helps you most!

hey edgen,
get to try out that guitar library yet? I'm anxious to see what you can do with it!

crap, I forgot to reply to this question. Sorry about that Hybrid.
my process... I say yes to your movie and cross my fingers hoping its going to be good. (all composers do this.. if not, you lie.) :)
I would hope that most editors have a natural rythmn to their editing process therefore making my job a lot easier. Sometimes there will be a series of jumpcuts that will really make it difficult and throw everything off out in left field.
Style... well, I would hope that a director would trust my judgement on a score and its our dreams to have him/her just say, "Run with it and make it sound good", but that's not always the case and it comes a hassle, so automatically I would hope they would keep an open mind when they hear the music for the first time. From there I'm happy to go back and do a few retakes, but if a budget is 'nonexistent'... well, that's the worst. You really want to say, 'take it or leave it', but at the same time, you don't want to piss them off and burn bridges. If you feel a bridge will be burned, its sometimes best not to even cross it.
all in all, i'm pretty flexible I suppose. Things to keep in mind is that I'm not John Williams, Hans Zimmer, or any other major composer with a multimillion budget to produce a full orchestra so I would hope everyone will at least hear my sound and if they dig the sound for their picture, they'll know what to expect from the git go.
There's a TON of other great composers on this forum too, and you've just got to shop around till you find one. You may use one girl/guy for one film, and turn right around and use another for your next. (depends on availability)
Hope that helps and all I can say... The sooner the better. :)
as for my guitars...
here's an acoustic, but not the electric jam session.

awesome reply edgen, thanks.
are there types of descriptors that help you more for the feel of a scene. Say "Between the start and a few minutes in, i'd really like something light and happy" or does that infringe too much on the creative process?
Edgen

well, no, light and happy works perfect for me. Hell, if you said, ya know.. I want to see "blue here" and "red" here. And, I want to see some yellow when they 'kiss' or I want "BrowN" here.
Descriptions are great with me. Even comparisons to other soundtracks help. If you said, I want to hear some Danny Elfman here, or perhaps hints of Thomas Newman mixed with hints of Halloween I would have a good idea as to what you are referring to.
I'm pretty good I think at intrepretations, but it's all about the time and money. If its something simple like... "Take out the piano solo and find another instrument" that's no problem, but if its adding in a techno beat mixed with heavy guitars I'd probably tell you to shove it up your a

haha, lol.
my original metal guitar thought may be passing, because i'm liking the dark stuff you have already more and more. But as I said before, we have a 25 min film to make! (of course, a six minute cut for the contest) We'll be shooting early so that's good for you. And I can promise we won't let you down!!! We would love to have you onboard.

Youch! 6 minutes to score is pretty easy, but a full 25 is... well, more difficult. Lets start with the 6 minute cut and we can definitely work something out for the 25 minute beast. :)
