I'm rackin' my brain... I want to be the first to guess it... I'm guessing fan chassis?

the rig is pretty a little heavy by itself,
the handles bar part of the rig are fairly light, but the steel supporting bracket is made of 4mm thick punch-steel. So that is where the most of the weight is from.

with the adaptor, dealing with a 50mm and smaller lens, it feels soild. and easy to move holding two hands
but with my 70mm-210mm zoom, it is GOD-HAN heavy, but not so heavy that a average steadicam or fig rig cameraman/woman could use. The support bracket could be changed to a lighter metal, if a person finds the rig heavy.

a LANC controller is in the works to be mounted along with a light LCD screen that have for my FIG RIG.

as for the chassis?

nope not Fan Chassis, but a very good guess. I found it at the home depot

chassis = 5 bucks
steel punch steel 3' = 15 dollars
1 1/4" rod 2 feet long = $2
1/4 nuts, bolts and fender washers = 2$

and i used an small buck brother hacksaw = 3 clams
with some wrench that i had lying around

I will post the chassis later after my boss leaves

Seems cool, Phally.. I bought a less beefier (lighter) version at Wally-world today.. hoping to use it on my little mini-DV. Feels comfortable, for sure. Instead of foamy handles, I bought tennis grip wrap tape.

Got any footage to see how it helps the grip?

Thanks!

J

Hey Joe

The handgrip works well, but the it is not balance so it wears out my arm when i am using it. You musta need GOD hand to use it for prolong time. I wwent back to using the PVC fig rig to do long takes.

I'll post later

kinda off topic, but What the heck do you have mounted on the Lense of that poor TRV900?

What is mounted on the TRV is my 35mm adaptor with a 50mm lens.

if you are shocked, I have new pictures of the camera mounted on the fig rig with varizoom monitor (btw has a flip option on monitor)

enjoy -

p.s. the fig rig works better now with all the weight
