Let's talk about some real and concrete as far as possible..

Mike Curtis gave us his realistic opinion..

«...and my gut says I wouldn't be too terribly surprised to see it ship first units in early spring and in bulk by April to June, or perhaps even later.»

if i will win the RED think tank contest, when can i shoot with my #97 reservation?.. next December? spring time of the next year? following Mike Curtis predictions, april - june of 2007?

That's a really good question. We have projected timeline for this project. Currently we are a bit ahead of schedule. But that can change due to the difficulty of the trick. We have posted our targets. 1st 4k footage in the fall. 1st cameras together in December. 1st production early 2007. Six months ago, when we announced what we were doing, we had nothing but skeptics. Now most believe we are very serious and capable of getting the job done. We have been honest and open every step of the way. We have avoided the trap of "guaranteeing" a delivery date because we do NOT want to disappoint. Let's all just hope we can continue on the path of solving the problems in the timeframe established. I don't want to commit to a date and either disappoint our customers with a delay or release a product that isn't right. Maybe Mike is right. Maybe he is not. We'll see. One thing for sure, if we show footage in the fall that knocks your socks off... that would be a good sign. If you see delays in that footage, that would be a bad sign.

Honestly, if the footage from Red delivers what it should, I could care less if Jim ships Red later than its scheduled release date.

I would be soo thankful that he has given us the opportunity to shoot with such a revolutionary camera that I could care less about delays.

Let the man breathe, he`s got alot on his plate and most notably,THE MOST REVOLUTIONARY CAMERA of ALL TIME!

Mr. Blonde... can you stick around? If we ever fall in a hole I might need you to re-post this. :-)

I think Jim and co. is doing things the right way so everyone knows whats going on in the development process. Its very brave, and shows just how loyal Red is to its supporters.

If you have a reservation, you get special emails every so often with updates, slice test news etc. Your not left in the dark wondering where they are at on which stage like most companies of date. I have a feeling as soon as the first footage drops everyone is going to relax a little and breath. Since we are all being included in the process, i think there wont be any bad surprises.

Until Red #194 delivers, you can be assured that I`ll be around as Red`s motivational speaker Jim. :costumed-smiley-047

I personally have no problem waiting. I've been involved with film/video since 1991 and nothing with this potential has come about since then (not even close). When HD hit the market some years back I was not impressed. With RED, just the real-world possibilities and the professionalism of Jim and the RED team have been beyond impressive.

You all know that cheesy wine slogan from the 80's.... "we will serve no wine before it's time". Ok, so the wine sucked, but you know that the odds are pretty good that RED wont. :)...whatever it takes, I'll sit back and wait.

Yeah. I seem to remember Orson Welles doing that commercial...
