Looks like all of Jason's posts were edited today to show "2K not official, we're at 1920x1080 HD".

Still:

Seriously does anyone care about the difference between "2K" and 1080p?

1152 vs. 1080.... that's just not a make-or-break feature for me. In fact, it's not even a give-a-%$#@ feature. Proper 1080 will be juuuuuuust dandy.

2.35:1 is a good reason to shoot with any extra resolution.

"anyone care about the difference between "2K" and 1080p?"

YES it does matter when i buy a camera in 2007 ... so when i lay out 20K for a camera body ( 30-40K include body , lens ,some accessories , does not include post items ) i'm looking for a little more then "HD" ... i'm looking for a camera that i don't have to "explain " as HD includes so many formats/sizes/fake-real24/30p/interlace .. 2k doesn't seem to need much explaining ...
that little difference between 2k and 1920x1080HD is the difference between buying and waiting ..
i want the MOST camera when i exchange/trade my $$,$$$.00 for a camera ....

now if i was BUYing a camera today then i would have to look at it different.

Mr. David Newman honor us with his superior input. A great add-value for the SI camera. And for any SI customer. As RED has its famous team, IMHO (t)his name is a word of reliability for this project.

Good contribution filmmaker1977... Non-techie or not, you gave an important hint to the debate! That proves sometimes a non-techie POV is not less relevant than any other.

You are right but I think the SI policy will be in the upgradeable direction. The RED competition defines a pattern. And the same it's possible to say in both directions. The customer wins again if there will be two or even three major providers (Color Space also, though they want to be the Lamborghini style of the digital cinema cameras -- a dangerous way IMHO, I have been hearing a lot of european professionals saying: ...and if this or that company falls down... Who will give us the support?! Fairly wise doubts...)

100% agreed, although 2k would give it an extra 10 year lifetime. Also, 2K is as near to 35mm as us film makers can go. Actually it's better than 35mm it's digital and less noise and grain.

It's nothing . . . just somebody wondering when stuff will ship.

BTW, I'm the webmaster, and I never took anything down on the website . . . so if it wasn't there in April when it launched, it wasn't there.
