Can pro tools le do a 5.1 suround sound mix? i have never used protools
i editing in final cut and do audio in soundtrack pro.

Not really no, you can kind of set up monitoring in 5.1 but the Pro Tools LE Mixer is stereo. I'm not sure if there are LE surround plug-ins either. It's possible to set up the hardware to surround but its a hasstle and the software is still only stereo. So it's not possible.
