A great feature in a digital (software driven) camera would be a public plugin-interface for user/thrid party software additions. The plugins could have control over a number of things: image manipulation before sending it to output, creating custom ouput stream formats, custom camera menus --- virtually anytihng the camera software has control over.
Even grater would be an interface for creating these plugins in some high level language like Java or C#.
I know this can be impossible in techical or company policy reasons, but maybe some day we will see this in a Red-like camera...

ps. I know, almost the same idea that lordnumberzero just posted, but this was NOT stolen, I had this one hours ago... :)
