Wouldn't it be nice if every magazine (HD or Flash) had a cheap built in FPGA minicomputer which allowed you to see what was actually on the magazine?
It should work like the info display on a digital battery: You push a button and you can see content (Maybe just as thumbnails and the free space.)
It should save the thumbnails on a small flash memory so it wouldn't need the power to actually spin the disk or transcode the Uncompressed stream.
And it would be nice to show off at NAB
