View Full Version : Idea - General purpose USB-Type-A socket

Im extending the idea of txcine and possibly a few others to a general USB input/output interface for feeding data to the camera and getting data out from the camera. With a socket you find in computers (Type-A), you could connect the camera to an normal external hard drive as well as to a memory stick and to a bunch of other USB peripherals DIRECTLY. Normally cameras have only USB-Type-B sockets.

For example, an USB memory stick has a lot of PORTABLE applications, which can be extended afterwards by the camera software. One good example has been suggested by Hans Nystoem: USB Flash Memory Setup. Furthermore, Bluetooth or WiFi connections could be arranged by connecting an USB tranceiver to the USB socket and downloading a corresponding driver to the camera.
