My idea - integrate a function that resembles flashes like those when starting / stopping filmcameras ( donīt know if the RED camera can do it for real, I donīt mean that fake digital flashes. )

thanks, itīs a pleasure to be at this forum,
about your question, itīs both, an effect and sometimes a technical gimmick, but itīs a commonly used effect thing in music videos, commercials and features, I even shoot at higher frame rates ( 50-75 fps on 16mm / mainly 50 fps on 35mm ) just to get them, so I thought it would be a nice gimmick .
For the technical side, itīs nice so have these flashes ( at least for me ), when Iīm logging through footage, itīs very easy to spot a break visually between two takes with these flashes there when no slate is used.

that effect is incredibly easy to do in post
