For those of us interested in documentary/ENG production, a pre-roll cache would be great. When in this mode, the last thirty seconds or so would be saved in memory somewhere. If something interesting happens while you're not rolling, simply hit the rec-with-preroll button. Those thirty seconds are written to disk and the camera continues to record as usual. The resultant file would be like any video file, but will have those thirty seconds you would have otherwise missed.
