This idea could satisfy the everchanging recording formats/mediums.
A pack (back pack or fanny) that is has 1 or more of the mediums in which you would record too. This would be connected via firewire to the camera thus reducing the weight on the arms (but yes, possibly increasing it somewhere else).
It could have, almost like hot swappable components - drives, whatever they might be. So when you get the cash or a new technology comes out you simply replace the old with the new without buying a new camera. A hard drive gets full, the video just moves over to the backup drive, and just pull out the old without stopping rolling camera. It could also have more then one medium if when shooting you would have your copy and you could give the client a dvd/hard drive copy that you were creating the entire time.
