This is kind of out there but...
A relatively small solar panel situated, out of the way, on the top of the camera for those long shoots outside. When you don't have a outlet or spare batteries to get to (or you can afford) and you are on lunch. Just detach the solar panel and set it in the window sil of the diner.
Can provide a charge during those downtimes of the shoot.
Like a hybrid camera or something.

thanks, I just know the technology is relatively cheap and could easily provide a nice charge for those long outside shoots while relying on the energy from the sun.
There is no reason why, I guess, you could attach it to a larger solar panel if needed.

This doesn't have to be just for RED, it could be made for any camera. I film outside alot and go trekking in the jungle. I have been to the Amazon, Borneo, and Australia. I am sometime out in the middle of nowhere and wish I had a way to charge up my batteries. I think you have a great idea. Too bad only a few people like us would want one. I wish someone would make one. They probably think it is not worth their effort or investment.

Finally somebody else thinks of this too, it be so much easier than batteries or having to find an AC plug outside somewhere. Actually the way Solar Systems work is they are constantly charge a battery so even shooting outside would recharge the battery and then you could move inside with a charged battery.

This product already exists. Do a google search on "solar powered battery rechargers". You'll get about 49,000 results. With all due respect guys, do some simple research.

We are too busy thinking up ideas for RED, to research. Sheesh. :P
