I have been capturing to a Powerbook through FCP and and external firewire drive Daisy chained to the one port on the mac. I can easily capture 720 24p for over 2 hours. But I got to thinking about how there is no timecode. Is there a way to find out it there were dropped frames? I know that FCP has the options to make a new clip, abort, or warn after capture if things go wrong but do these take if there is no timecode? How can you check a clip for problems if there isn't one?
