I have the Edius Broadcast 30 day trail and I'm trying to see what the best way to down convert. The way I just did it was to drag my 720p 24PN footage into a 4:3 NTSC project. But when I look at the footage played back, there is a good amount of tarring and motion weirdness. But when I look at the downconverted P2 footage playing from the camera, it looks much better. Any thoughts? Will I run into this problem with any NLE?
Thanks:

Did you put it into a 24p 4:3 project, or a 29.97i 4:3 project?
If it's the latter, then there'll be some framerate conversion and it'll likely look weird at best.

Thanks Brandon. I did figure it out. I was exporting to a plain Dv 16x9 when i should of been exporting to a NTSC 24pn. I've been reading alot of post and you seem to know this program very well. Do you work for Conopus?
Thanks Again:

Hi Steve,
Yes, I do work for Canopus - now part of Grass Valley. But I was a customer before I became an employee. Back in '99, I bought a DVRex-M1. Or was it '98? I don't remember anymore... Anyway, I moved to California and started working at Canopus in '99. It's been a long, adventure, full of highs, lows, pitfalls, jumps and very good friends. I guess in the end, that's all we can really ask for, right?

No doubt Brandon, no doubt. Grass Valley is a great company and I'm happy to hear you survied any restructing that might of happened. I have to say, I really like this broadcast pro demo. It handles the footage I shoot on the HVX pretty flawlessly. I only wish there were better scopes. I like the to have a RGB parade like avid has to I can set blacks and whites. Do you know if there are any plans to have that scope on the next version. Becuase I probably would the whole thing tommorow if I knew that was an option.
Take care:
Steve

The waveform and vectorscope in EDIUS 4 now show the actual colors (instead of drab green) and have two zoom levels. I noticed any additional functions yet, but I'm pretty sure it could be added down the road. It's just a matter of getting it on the wish list.
