I operated on an HVX/G35 short this past weekend and the footage was all imported into the editor's FCP5 workstation and I just went to copy the Quicktime MOV files from his harddrive into mine.
I'm now home on my PC and all I have is a white screen in the 720p window. I tried searching the forums and couldn't find anything so I apologize if I missed something here. I want to be able to import these files into my Vegas 6.0d program to incorporate into my existing demo reel....
Can anyone please help me? I tried using Raylight but it says that the files are already Quicktime. What do I do here?
Thanks,
Norm

Hey Norm,
Your editor has to install the correct quicktime codecs in order to play the footage back on your PC. I use Avid - it installs the avid codecs so I can view 720p footage in quicktime. But again, I'm using the Avid codec to do this. Does you editor program support 720p?

Yes, his Final Cut Pro 5.04 supports 720p.
I tried installing AVID Express Pro HD and Canopus Edius Pro 3.5 to see if that would work but they still don't show the video. It only shows a white screen still. This also holds true for Vegas 6.0d and Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0...
I installed the Avid Codecs 1.01 as well but no results......
What can I tell the editor to do though exactly? Install QT codecs on his APPLE computer so that it works on my PC computer? That doesn't seem to make sense because shouldn't the codecs be on my computer to work>?
HELP!!!

The Avid codec won't do you any good at this point because the media was created on a MAC with FCP.
You're going to have to go back to his FCP system and export the files in a codec that you have on your PC (H.264 maybe).
The MAC verson of Avid Express Pro does NOT support HD yet so that's not going to help you.
Use Flip4Mac Pro to output the files as WMV 9 HD.
