Hi all, well, I've been sort of "skirting the truth" to you all in this topic I started...

http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=58245

I wanted to wait until there were 200 views before coming clean... the clips are all bluescreen keys, and I wanted your eyes on them without the knowledge that they were keys. There was one post of someone who suspected something was rotten in Denmark, but I didn't actually lie... it absolutely wasn't a greenscreen key... no sir. And there are hints in my posts that there's something... going on with the shots. Ironically, the very thing that was a "give" on the illusion, wasn't faked... the DOF of my background was EXACTLY what it would have been had it been shot with the FG elements... same focus, fstop, etc. Darned narrow DOF...

Anyway, if your curious about my tests with the HVX, uncompressed recording, and tests in 1080, 720 and DVCPRO 50... check out this page I whipped up today to get the ball rolling... glad to answer any questions... I'll be adding to it and messing with the contents over the next week, so forgive the "work in progress" feel to the page...

Jim.
I saw you have a DPS Velocity HD, I just stated work at a new production house and we use an old Velocity for coprate videos and such. How do you like your HD?

Bravo bravo! (Scrappy is begging his son to go to a cheaper state college so there would be extra money to buy an hvx.) that was very inspiring and a great lesson in film. All you had to do was say it wasn't greenscreen and all of us experienced camera people quit looking for it, accepted it, then moved on to other aspects of the clip. When you think about it, it's quite eye-opening, if ture camera professionals looking a the clip critically can't tell the difference, what about the other 99%+ of people out there? Great work, congratulations

It's a quite good bit of hardware, and has been a great asset for the last couple years. It will play SD DVCPRO 50 MXF clips without rendering, which is a nice bonus.

I still need to figure out which way to go with a software only NLE on a laptop with the HVX... Edius, Vegas, or a Mac with FCP... I still don't know what to do!

Thanks, I'm amazed the "scam" worked... put attention on a particular DP aspect of the shot and just keep quiet and see if anyone notices the "elephant in the room"...

I think it speaks volumes for the HVX in this area. It's the only 1/3" camera out there where the on-board recording device/media/codec is up to the challenge of a great key.

Jim, Check out NewTek's "Speed Edit".
http://www.newtek.com/speededit/
Awesome features and res-independent.
I'm holding off till it's released. Then I'll be upgrading my laptop for the location capabilities.
Good luck.
