I currently use the DVX 100B for all my work right now. I film events, news, short films etc for a Chicago TV station. Based on what I have seen from the clips here, I am impressed with it and I was thinking of purchasing a GL2 for my smaller needs. Does anyone have any advice about doing this? Does anyone know where I can get a good price on it? Anything about the GL2 I should know about?
Thanks!

They're terrible in low light. And the "frame mode" is garbage. Give it a ton of light to work with, and your golden.

Have you even used this cam before, I had the GL2 it was really good in low light, especially the different shutter speeds available on it that arent on the dvx, alot less noise then the dvx, the GL2 is awesome and frame mode isnt 24p but its not bad, here is a link, I shot this a year ago, awesome in low light.

I moved UP from the GL2 to the DVX 100b a few months ago. In fact, I was going to put it up on ebay soon...
I have to agree that the GL2 wasn't so great in low light, but it was probably comparable to other cameras within the same price/quality level. It was a great cam though. All the clips currently on my site were shot with the GL2. It was a great cam for the price.

I've owned the camera for 2 years now, and yes they're terrible in low light. I shoot wedding videos professionaly, and I need a massive light for it to be even remotely up to par, even with the iris wide open and the gain maxed out... (It looks terrible at that point)
Compared to the dvx and the sony's it's no match in low light (Dynamic range is a joke with the canon's) and on top of everything, THEY'RE TOO SOFT!
Watched your video though, looks good! I love your locations.

What do you guys like between the Canon XL1S, Canon GL2, and the Sony VX2100? I want something that is good in all conditions (low light, etc) . I like the looks of the XL1S, but wonder if it will end up being too cumbersome to handle. I am new to this. My wife is getting into Wedding consulting, and thought that I would try to add video into the business (Wedding/Event Videography) . Can't make my mind up on which camera would be best all around. I have heard that the GL2 is lousy in low light, but has a good zoom lens. I have heard that the VX2100 is great in low light, but could stand to have more zoom to it. And haven't heard too much negative about the XL1S. Would like one that incorporates both features. Also was wanting to see if there was somewhere that give classes in Videography, but seems to be none. Was told by WEVA that everyone in the business seems to start out the same way as me, learning by doing.

for weddings the best solution would be the vx2100 (great low light perfomance). the xl1s is just a sexy cam. If u can afford it get the fx1.
