View Full Version : HVX200 Viewfinder overexposed
Hey, I am on a shoot right now and noticed my viewfinder is way overexposed, blown-out, and over saturated. But the flip-out LCD looks normal. We had a marshall monitor on set so we knew we were getting a correct exposure. Anybody ever seen this? I can't use this camera outside, and would like to get this resolved before the shoot is over.

You can adjust that in the camera menu.
I had the same problem and it created footage that was underexposed (because i tried to darken it to match the screen). This also created the "noise".
Once I adjusted the viewfinder and flip out screen, everything is NICE.

As Green Hornet said, just go into the LCD SET and EVF SET menus and calibrate your VF and LCD properly (or, well, as "proper" as you can get with the controls that are available). It'll make a huge difference.
And also, use the zebras to determine exposure. Unless you've actively calibrated your Marshall or other monitor to the prevailing light conditions, you can't just rely on the monitor for exposure. The zebras will tell you exactly where you are in terms of the exposure, and if you can only trust one (either your monitor or the zebras), always trust the zebras.
Thanks Guys, looking in the EVF setting it was all cranked hot. Don't know why but it is looking good now, all calibrated with the bars. Thanks again
