We were having trouble converting edited HVX scenes shot in 720p24pn so that we could burn a quality DVD. We also couldn't transfer the edited material back onto the P-2 cards in MXF file format so that they would play back on the camera's LCD or video out, which is possible.

We finally discovered we had inadvertently created our project files in Edius Broadcast in PAL format, not NTSC. We had shot everything in NTSC but were uknowingly editing in PAL and the DVD's we tried to burn looked like crap, though the edited material looked fine in the computer monitor while working in Edius.

Once we figured out the problem and made sure we were creating NTSC project files for editing in Edius, everything turned out fine. We are burning great DVD's now and can load the edited material onto the P2's via a laptop and insert them into the camera for MXF file viewing on the camera's LCD or video out.

Make sure you create the editing project file in the proper format for the camera- PAL or NTSC.

I just wanted to try and save other new users of NTSC HVX cameras using Edius Broadcast software a lot of frustration.

Edius Broadcast software is really good stuff. It is powerful and easy to learn.

Edius is between $800-$1200 depending on where you go, and what version you buy.

Does anyone know what the preset name(s) end in, and where they are located?
I remember back in the day....
With premiere, you could just place these presets in a folder named PAL, and that way they would be there, if you ever needed them, but wouldn't be selectable
in the application to mess you up.

That way you can only have presets that you would use, and lock out the ones you wouldn't, and create others to do special tasks (upconvert 960x720 to 1280x720 etc.)

I haven't explored this yet with edius.
