Not sure if this is the right forum, but...I need to shoot something that is to closely mimic something you'd see on ESPN Classic from the mid 80's. Ideally, I want to find an old VHS camera to shoot it, but this may be difficult to acquire. I've also considerded shooting on my DVX100a, transfering it to VHS, then digitizing the VHS to edit and further adjust with Magic Bullet. Any suggestions on the best approach to take?

do you mean 80s broadcast (ESPN) quality or 80s personal camcorder quality? There was a big difference.

80's broadcast quality. Or at least as close to it as possible.

shoot video and destaurate...maybe soften it a little. i'd just go effects instead of doing the double capture as you proposed. how about getting a sample clip from one of the broadcasts - record it, not contact espn, but record it. then use that clip/pic to adjust yours to match.

buy a camera off ebay. buy one that is JUST a camera, no tape recording portion, I cant think of the name of them off the top of my head, but then run it in to your dvx, and it will still have the same look with out having to mess with vhs tapes and all that jazz
