Man, this is driving me crazy. Every time I open a text box in PS CS, the cursor is above the text box rather than inside the box as it should be. So the first line of text is actually above the text box, not in it. I've checked my character and paragraph settings, but that's not the problem.

So, I deleted my preferences/settings to restore to factory settings and it was fixed when I created a new document... or so I thought. When I opened the file that led to the problem in the first place, it was the same thing - cursor above the text box rather than in it. Now it's doing it in that file AND in every new file I open.

I can still work with this; it's just really annoying. I am hoping I'm just stupid and this a setting somewhere I'm overlooking - I'm no Photoshop master. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks.

it's called "base line shift". To reset it, open the text tool. At the top there's an icon of a notepad/file folder thing (it's dark gray). Click that puppy, click the little circle with the triangle in up at the top of that box, and select "reset characters".

That'll fix it.
