The DVD intro for a local highschool baseball JV and Varisty team year end video they are playing at their banquet this Saturday.

Of course it won't be low-quality like this cruddy WMV file, but you get the idea.

P.S. - You would think editing/filming baseball and making a short 50minute DVD would be easy right? Ugg...3 camera shoots = 6 tapes per game, and we filmed 12 games...yippee...yep 72 tapes to capture realtime, chop up highlights per player (total 61 players across the two teams) and then use Canon 20D photos mixed in for each kid's section...if you are thinking highschool sports would be a fun gig...stick with whatever you got going cause this is tedious ;)

That was awesome! Loved the music choice and Fx. You're really getting me pumped about filming high school marching band and 8th grade American football next year! Though your comments about #of tapes and all is a bit humbling. Ouch! Wow, I keep imagining the effort. OUCH!!! Hey CORUSA, I've got to talk more with you about this. I'm just 3 hours south of you in Georgetown! I am going to need some guidance.

Anyway, great moving intro. WHere did you get the music? Is it cleared?

And the parents are brutal. If they dont get what they want, whew! That's when you start playing a dangerous game.

This looks real good. How much does doing that type of work run if you don't mind me asking ?

Overal I liked it. The music slowed down at the end but the edits kept the same pace as before which didn't work for me, I would rather have seen a slow motion shot at the end to match the music. Maybe the team coming together after a win.

Looked good, but I think the coloured text in between your b&w shots kinda takes the buildup out of it and kinda makes it cheesy lookin... btw that wasn't all dvx was it? Some of it looked great, but some shots lacked luster.

I keep watching and watching this and I STILL can't believe this was your first crack at sports editing. Amazing job CORUSA! By the way, did you use AE or something on the titling? This is probably a newbie question, but that I know of, it's not possible to get that fanning out effect on the titling just in your NLE.

since we had to use some fan-shot footage (for kids that rarely played), no, about half of it wasn't DVX footage.

to answer the other questions, no, i didnt use AE, just Premiere Pro 1.5, and the shine plugin for the text.

as far as pricewise, it was $6,000 to shoot 8 games and make higlights for three teams, JV BLACK, JV RED, VARSITY and a SENIOR section

I looked up the Shine plug-in, and it is one of the effects in Trapcode plug-in. The website lists it as an AE plug-in and even says AE is required for use. So you're using it right in PP?

As for the job, it definitely sounds like a lot of work filming 3 teams. Did you make a highlights reel for each team, or one reel covered all 3 teams?

yes, we did a 10 minute section for the JV Black, a 10 minute section for the JV Red, a 15 minute section for the Varsity and a 20 minute section for the Seniors which had senior interviews green screened, family photos of each senior growing up, etc...

the JV Red and the Varsity section has team highlights as well as individual highlight per kid...so what I would do it chop up every game into good clips, then go through those chops, and rename each cut with the kid's number, then when i was done about a week later, l just put all the #15's together, all the #7's together, etc...then each kid got their name and number across the screen along with their picture in the background slowly zoom/paning in (using MovingPicture v5 plugin for that part)

Also, yes, the shine plugin is part of trapcode's set, and all .AEX files (after effects plugins) will work in premiere pro by placing them in the plugins folder, then restarting premiere. You dont need after effect to use after effect plugins...that's why i love premiere so much, you just drop them in the program files plugins folder and you are good to go. They will show up in the effects list. Sometimes under "3rd Party" and sometimes just alphabetically.

For anyone else who is wondering the name of the song is "Escape" by Craig Armstrong. Let me know if you didnt get that email chris grieder and i'll resend the song.
