Direct capture problem fcp 4.5

I have tried capturing to fcp 4.5, on a dual g5, using these settings based on advice in other threads:
Hook the HVX up to the Mac via FireWire
Launch FCP
Set your Capture Scratch location
Open Log and Capture
Go to the Capture Settings tab
Set Device Control to Non-Controllable Device
Set Caapture/Input to match whatever HD variant you have the HVX set in (DVCPro50 in my case)
Frame up your shot
Hit the Capture Now button
and away you go!

Fcp captures for 4 seconds and then aborts, stating that 'there is a problem with the data from you camera' or something. Any idea on what the problem may be? -Thanks.

I may be incorrect, but I believe that only FCP 5 support the codec.

you are correct, 4.5 doesnt support it. I dont think its hard to find a update, and if it is, thats why limewire was invented :-D. Havent used log and capture on FCP5 though because the P2 cards are too awesome.

..to both of you. I'm waiting for my fcp studio5 upgrade to arrive. For long interviews and static stuff in the documentary world, direct capture is very nice to have. I keep swapping 8gb cards, and always worry a bit. -but then again, I always do anyways ;-)
