I got 4 new p2 "dumps" today. I'm new to the format and have been looking over the structure of files, etc. Been reading a lot that is helpful on the forums. I have one question. The P2cards I received have the same file name and size from P2 1a and P2 2a. Both from the same camera. I believe "a" and "b" are the actually 4gig p2 cards? Can anyone enlighten me on the file naming of these HVX200's, as I have nothing to compare it to even find out if this is correct or an error. I can't imagine that both would have the same file names.

thanks.

Yep. All P2 cards mount as NO NAME and have a CONTENTS folder and a LASTCLIP.TXT.
Drag the CONTENTS folder and the LASTCLIP.TXT. into another folder that you name as you like. Do not change the names of the CONTENTS folder or the LASTCLIP.TXT.

Has anyone actually tried to rename the contents folder and it caused something not to work? I understand that it "could" cause a problem if the program is designed to look for clips in a certain directory named contents, but it may not be a problem if the program just looks for files named "*.mxf"

I haven't tried to rename, but just wondered if this is just a suggestion, or something that might cause a problem?

AS far as last clip text file goes, is that also a mac only thing?

I am on a PC, and have yet to have a problem with the last clip txt file (but I also dont mess with it).
It seems as if edius will make it's own or remove it at times.

I transported a bunch of files in edius once, and it moved them all, and removed the last clip txt file.
From what I have whitnessed, it seemd that file is only needed to tell how to join clips that are seperated between cards.
If the video files are put in the same directory, it will connect the broekn parts, and then no longer needs the last clip txt file.

THis is just from observation, not anything that I know for fact, and from working with edius, not certain how other editors handle this.
