That was a lot of fun.
When I first read the post I thought, just create your own music, but once I saw it, I understood. The music makes it all work.
Great job.

That was pretty funny stuff. I also like the thread title. I could hear the movie announcer guy in my head "From the makers of Jedi Breakfast, comes another movie they won't be able to enter in a dvx user contest!"
Can't wait to see your next one, keep em coming.

I died when he shrank. That was funny. I don't think film festivals allow
copyright protected music, either.

I have friends who put it into festivals here in Canada. If you make no money off of it and state the copyright then you can put it in. It's only when you sell the film. I have friends who used hockey night in canada and sex in the city theme for the just for laughs festival.

When it started playing and I heard the serious music play and saw a tired man wake from his sleep I assumed it was just going to be some artistic video on someone's dull life. Then during the overalls scene, I was thinking, "what kind of grown man wears overalls these days, especially with a red shirt". When he put the mustache on I knew what I was about to witness.
This was so cool. I especially liked the sound effects. When he smashed his head on the brick windowsill thing, and turned to the camera with blood dripping from his hat I cracked up. Along with the Luigi encounter.
Really nice video.

This was great! My 14-year-old stepson who is yet to outgrow his love for Mario and all things Nintendo will love looking at this. Is there a way to download this video. I don't want him looking at youtube with all its "other" video choices.

hey Andrew,
I watched it again and, damn, if I didn't laugh harder.
What Steven B was saying encompasses the thoughts in my head when I first started watching it but then...the mustache.
The sound effects.
The leaping up the bleachers and then having to crawl down. hehe.
Eating the mushroom and then puking.
The blood!
Luigi!
HAHA!
Technically...meh.
Entertaining? Hell, yeah!
Again. Good stuff.
Echoing what mystico asked.
How about a download?
Please?
sincerely,
ian

I'd like to set a download but the thing is I'm trying to garner a reputation as a comedy producer here in Canada and I need the 'clicks' on Youtube so I can show broadcasters. It's sort of like the Neilsen rating system for the internet. Jedi Breakfast has gotten 43,000 hits in 2 months which is pretty good. If this mario thing got half that I'd be happy.
And I'm glad everyone thought it was going to be an 'art' film. That's what I was going for. Unmotivated light sources and overly dramatic shots. Then it just gets ridiculious.

you're insane for doing that but it was cool watching... lol

Indeed it does. Ridiculously entertaining!
hehe.
All the best with your ambitions.
Keep us updated.

lol! so whats with the leis when he was going star mode on everyone? haha party mario? Fun times.
Vampiresoup
05-16-2006, 06:51 AM
Well I didn't want to do any post special effects like making him flashing becasue really it's supposed to be about someone dressing up and acting as mario and all the real life consequences that come with that. So yeah. I just figured, lets give him leis. He's holding a little disco ball and blowing on a party horn too but you can't really see that.

Come up with an idea that has legs. A comedy short that is episodic. Check out lonelyisland.com- The Bu. Some funny stuff. Also Homestarrunner.com and askaninja.com. If you can get a podcast that is very popular you'll get noticed. By the way that information was $500.00. I PM'd you my paypal info.

Episode 2: Mario learns to throw fireballs.
Cool stuff, man. Reminded me of the Mario bookmark I made in sixth grade art class (his stache hung over the pages). Of course, that was when Mario was only part of Donkey Kong and not yet Super. I'll quit talking and resume feeling old now. Thank you.
totally my generation, i dont feel old, but i guess 20 is getting somewhere.

I remember when he jumped barrels. Barrels!
mystico
05-17-2006, 01:01 PM
Yea, I remember the barrel-jumping as well. As I compare my old video game systems (Atari, Intellevision) to my sons' systems and games, I keep noticing that our generation's gameplay was, in fact, video-gaming, but still allowed for social interaction--because most games were turn-based 2d platform games. Now it's all one-player, lifelong games that allow kids to immerse themselves in a solitary fantasy world with no need for other people's involvement.
Remember that the whole goal of DK and all that was to play the same few levels over and over at ever-increasing difficulty level until you ran out of lives??? That concept now seems so foreign and boring. Anyway, I won't go any further off on that tangent.
Andrew, I'm looking forward to the sequel.

Andrew?
Andrew Bush?
From Street Cents?
Geez, dude. I watched your short "Jedi Breakfast" and laughed and all the while I'm thinking, "why does the cynic look familiar?"
Then I hit up IMDB and run the credit list for Jedi until I hit your name and there you are.
You're the actor on the "Road to Avonlea"-type show on "Made in Canada" and, of course, Street Cents.
The Jedi short was good. The other actor was a little... flat in his delivery and the lighting dark (or maybe it's my monitor at work) but it was entertaining nonetheless.
EDIT - I've now watched it two more times and the other actor is growing on me. His lines and delivery work better the more I watch it. - END OF EDIT
You should have a ton of contacts through your work. I think you're underselling yourself. As others have stated there's talent there.
Keep jumping the damn barrels, boy!
sincerely,
ian

yea especially those massive mulitplayer online role playing games (MMORPG). People spend more time on those games per week then a full-time job. Its getting a little crazy out there in the world of gaming and I must admit at times I get sucked into it.
