Does anybody know if the Dell LTO-2 drives will configure to Macs? IF so, with what software?

The software not the drive determines if it will work with your OS. If the software you use includes drivers for the Dell drive it will work. There are a bunch of solutions for the Mac. I'd check with the software manufacturer that you plan to use. Most have fully functioning demos that you can test compatibility with your drive prior to purchasing.

Cheers,

Apple sells the Exabyte magnum autoloaders in both LTO-3 and LTO-2 on their web site. They bundle 'BRU server for Mac OS X' backup software with it. These are scsi machines so you'll need an atto pci card to run it.
Are you handy with unix? If you type 'man tar' in a terminal window you'll get the manual pages for 'tar', a unix backup program that is part of the unix os under Mac osX.
You can probably figure out if special drivers are even needed just by trying to write to it.
BRU server lists compatible devices here. They have both the IBM and HP LTO's. The Dell is probably the same thing.

Good luck.
