I have a question. We have been shooting on the DVX100b and I use Avid to edit the material. I export my stuff to .mov filetype usually without compressing so not to lose quality. I have recently tried to upload the project to the web, but Google failed to accept it. I am not sure exactly which of the 5 or 6 reasons mine falls under. It seems to meet the standards, but am unable to upload. I want a place I can put my work online for others to see and critic. If you can help me with this problem anyone I would appreciate it. Or, if you can give me a few places I can upload my video for others to see or vote on thanks.

My guess is it's a file size issue, if you're uploading uncompressed video to Google. I don't know what their requirements are, but they've accepted the 1500kbps Quicktime 7 H.264 I've sent them in the past (although it gets recompressed when they put it up).

Well, I do not do anything at all except export to quicktime save on desktop and then try to upload it to Google so if there is something I need to do between those steps please let me know. I want to get my stuff uploaded ASAP!!! Thanks

I think what Oedipax was getting at is that if you are saveing uncompessed quicktime files, they will be way to large to upload. Even if Google did accept them it would take you hours and hours on a fast internet connection to even get them there. you need to use some form of compression, otherwise they are not "internet friendly"
Your other option would be to pay for web space, normally around $5-10 a month depending on the service and space, and then you can upload all the uncompressed files you want, but then I can tell you right now, no one will want to spend the time to download them, it's just way too slow and inneficient.

it's a free codec... you can use virtualdub or dr.divx for encoding... I think that there's a mac version of dr.divx

Or, you could sign up free with www.youtube.com & upload your movies in 3 possible formats :
1) .avi
2) .mov
3).mpeg1 or mpeg2
However, you can upload maximum 100MB or 10 minutes worth of video, per video. If you post your video as "private" on youtube, you must personally invite your friends to view your video & they also must sign up as youtube members. If you post your video as public, then anyone, wheter member or non-member can view your video.

Bump.
We're having trouble compressing it down to upload to youtube, or anything like that. We're sitting at a file size of 180MB, and we'd like to get it down to a good size, and still retain picture quality.
Help!!!
